Top 5 Reasons Why We should Not Use 3rd Party Theme On Blogger CMS

This article is focused on Blogger users. Make sure it's not for WordPress, Joomla, and any CMS. In this article, we've to know hidden pitfalls when using 3rd party themes in Blogger that can harm your website.

Before going deep, we take a step back and know what does a theme affects and determines.

A good theme refers to many SEO factors including page speed, internal links, how your page elements such as images, videos, will display, and so on.

That's why picking up a good theme is the key focus when creating a website or blog.

I'm 100% sure that all readers out here are not aware of using themes in Blogger. Here are 5 key things to note.

  • Blogger help community doesn't support-: In fact, the Blogger help community forum doesn't support 3rd party themes unless it's a Blogger-provided theme like Contempo, Soho. It doesn't mean you can't use 3rd party theme. It's up to you.
  • 3rd party theme doesn't provide hand holding support-: If somehow some terrible happened due to your theme then you can't get help from the Blogger help community forum. In this case, you need to contact your theme designer for assistance. Even if, maximum theme designer doesn't help their users.
  • low page speed-: A 3rd party theme with many dynamic inbuilt features may slow down your site, not on the behalf of SEO perspective. Even if, Blogger will not stop you to use.
  • Absence of mobile-friendliness-: Most of the 3rd party theme is not mobile-friendly.
  • Breadcrumbs issues-: You may see breadcrumbs issues on the google search console or bing webmaster tool because of 3rd party theme.

My standpoint on this concept

I've used dozens of 3rd party themes on my couple of blogs. I faced breadcrumbs issues that were not easy to tackle. When I talked to Google product experts at Blogger, they told me we can help you to tackle your burdens if you use blogger provided theme. But I had not used the blogger theme. I also noticed whatever 3rd party themes I used were not mobile-friendly and had not had good page speed. And according to our research, most Blogger users simply download any theme and use it on their blog. And later faced many problems. So it doesn't mean you should not use them.  However, there are also good 3rd parties that you can use. Make sure you will have to know your theme designer community support where you download.
If you can not check out all this, you should use the default-free theme provided by Blogger. In fact, I've also used the Contempo theme of Blogger in this "Sabarpark" blog that you're reading right now.
If you want to use a free theme by Blogger. Don't hesitate to use it. Its theme doesn't affect SEO and ranking.
